Botanical interior: which rug suits you?
We probably don't need to tell you that a botanical interior is hot and happening. We've been seeing this beautiful, green home trend for a while now, and it's barely out of the interior magazines. How do you recognise a botanical interior? Very simple. Colourful prints combined with natural materials and, of course, an abundance of different plants. Your favourite rattan armchair is waiting to offer you a comfortable seat after a long day.
One great thing about the botanical trend is that its base colour, green, is very easy to match with shades of grey and blue. Fortunately, we're increasingly seeing the botanical interior style make its way onto the floor too. Isn't it a shame to lay a plant on the floor? Not at all! It's not a real plant, but a rug. Within the botanical interior style, there are a number of rugs that will feel completely at home in your house.
Botanical rug
There are plenty of options if you want to go for a botanical look on your floor. Have you painted your wall green and want to keep the rest of your interior calm as a result? Then choose a botanical cotton rug or a wool rug! Both a cotton rug and a wool rug provide a soothing base and are very easy to combine! You can match the green on the wall with designs in light colours. For example, you could lay a soft sheepskin over the sofa. Do you have more natural tones in your home? Then it's a good idea to break these up with colour accents such as blue, orange or yellow.
If you've chosen a neutral colour for your wall, such as white or grey, you can choose to bring more colour into your home. You can do this with home accessories or a bohemian rug in shades of green and/or blue. Can't get enough of colour? Then go all-in! As a tip, we'd suggest sticking to the same tones. That way, you make sure your botanical interior still feels like one cohesive whole.
Styling tips for a bohemian rug
Do you think that one bohemian rug is fantastic and simply can't let it pass you by? Then, naturally, your interior gets a complete makeover so your rug becomes the centre of attention. Give your botanical living room a tropical houseplant, such as a tree fern or a palm. It'll feel just like being on Ibiza, in an oasis of calm. Is your bohemian rug taking pride of place in the 'slightly smaller' bedroom? Then hang and place a few small plants, such as a cactus or a fern. You can further style the interior with copper-toned vintage accessories and natural materials such as rattan, hemp or jute. Did you know that bohemian rugs aren't all made up of rugs with a plant print? We even make a rug out of a plant! Laying down a jute rug contributes perfectly to the botanical atmosphere! Made from a plant and turned into a rug. How is that even possible?! Did you know a jute rug is also known as the 'golden fibre'? Jute is golden in colour, and that colour alone brings a warm, pleasant ambience. So who's about to become the ray of sunshine in the house?
Bohemian rug
Let's add one more natural material to the bohemian rug family! We mentioned it earlier, but cotton and wool rugs can also be combined beautifully in a botanical home style. All natural rugs are hugely popular for bringing a genuine bohemian feel into your home! Bohemian rugs also combine perfectly with animal hides and animal-inspired home accessories. Want to extend your bohemian interior outdoors? You can! With a bohemian outdoor rug, you can bring that same atmosphere from inside to out! Thanks to their polypropylene material, outdoor rugs are weather-resistant, so they can stay outside without any trouble, even during the most tropical downpour!
